This world is the infinite ocean of Maya, and human body is a ship captained by the Divine Gurū.
Without a Gurū it is impossible for any person to have the right knowledge and guidance leading to the ultimate aim of life, which is God realisation.
Jagadgurū Shrī Kripālu Mahāprabhu is lovingly addressed as Shrī Mahāraj Ji by us devotees. After coming in contact with common people Shrī Mahāraj Ji felt a forceful urge to educate us ignorant people who neither knew the true meaning of Bhakti Sādhana nor had the knowledge of Védic scriptural teachings. Due to lack of true understanding of the Divine Love philosophy, people were wasting the most precious moments of their extremely rare human life.
Thus, Shrī Mahāraj Ji was compelled to reveal His true Divine self to the entire world. Hence, He organized massive religious conventions. The first one was in Chitrākoot in the year 1955 from Oct. 16th to 30th, and in the following year 1956 in Pratāpgarh from April 7th to 13th, followed by one in Kānpūr from Oct. 4th to 19th.
All the topmost Saints of India, four lineage organizations Jagadgurū's, topmost scholars and speakers participated in these conventions. It was in these conventions that Shrī Mahāraj Ji's supreme mastery over the Védic scriptural knowledge baffled even the greatest of the intellectuals, Jagadgurū’s, and scholars. Dazzled with the unique brilliance in such a young 34-year-old saintly person, a few very proud and arrogant scholars of Kāshī Vidvat Parishat became jealous, and unable to bare Shrī Mahāraj Ji’s growing fame anymore, invited Him to Kāshī to deliver Védic discourses. Their main intention was to humiliate Shrī Mahāraj Ji, because they were confident that no matter how extraordinary His genius was, it could never surpass the combined genius of the 500 eminent scholars of Kāshī Vidvat Parishat. However, they were proved to be absolutely wrong. After 9 days of intense lecture series on the Védas delivered by Shri Maharaji, first in simple Sanskrit, then literary and poetical Sanskrit, then classical Sanskrit, and finally extremely difficult Vedic Sanskrit which was beyond everyone's comprehension who was present there.
Thus, the 500 eminent scholars of Kāshī unanimously declared Shrī Mahāraj Ji not only as the 5th Jagadgurū but “Jagadgurūttam”. In other words, the supreme most Jagadgurū. (Jagad means world – Gurū means spiritual master). They were flabbergasted, and extremely impressed with His unparalleled knowledge and Divinity that they had no choice but to admit and declare to the world about Him to be “Amitgunāmbodhih” which means, the infinite ocean of endless qualities. Thus, He is the 5th original Jagadgurū of this age. Besides Him, many other Jagadgurū's can also be heard of at present, but it should be noted that they are only the successors of the first four original Jagadgurū's, Adī Jagadgurū Shankarāchārya, Jagadgurū Nimbārkāchārya, Jagadgurū Rāmānujāchārya, Jagadgurū Mādhavāchārya. Approximately after 750 years, this title was conferred upon my master - Jagadgurūttam Shrī Kripālu Mahāprabhu - on 14th January 1957 by Kāshī Vidvat Parishat of Vāranāsī, India.
